Firefighters assist in blaze
white River Township firefighters from Engine Company 53 responded to a house fire in Morgan County yesterday to assist five other departments with the blaze. The fire was reported at 12:21 p.m. and had firefighters working at the scene for nearly four hours. A major factor in the fire for firefighters was the ambient air temperature, which was in the 90's throughout the afternoon. An ambulance from the Morgan County Emergency Management Agency was at the scene to assist with heat exhaustion. It was believed however that no one was transported to the hospital and that no injuries resulted from the fire.
No one was
at the home, which is owned by Bill Allen, at the time the fire started.
The cause was still under investigation at press time. Fire crews from the
Green, Harrison, Madison, Washington, and Brown township fire departments in
Morgan County all responded as well. The home was a total loss. More
