Lightning strikes home in WRT
An
apparent lightning strike started a fire in a White River Township home early on
Saturday morning. Firefighters were called to the 600 block of Macy Way in
the Pebble Hills subdivision around 8:23 Saturday morning during the height of a
severe thunderstorm. When firefighters arrived, they found thick smoke
emitting from the roof vents of the home and heavy fire conditions in the attic.
The fire was quickly brought under control and the loss limited to primarily the
roof of the structure. No one was injured in the blaze. Firefighters
from Greenwood also assisted and the exact cause is still under investigation.
Firefighters were on the scene for about two hours performing salvage and
overhaul operations.
