Fire official involved in accident
A White River
Township fire official was involved in a two-vehicle accident earlier today on
State Road 37 south of Olive Branch Road in northwestern Johnson County.
The incident occurred around 10:37 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the highway.
The official was driving a fire department Ford Explorer that left the roadway,
traveled down the embankment, and flipped onto its top and into a row of trees.
According to fire department rescue workers who responded to the scene, the lone
occupant of the fire department vehicle sustained some injuries, however none
appeared to be life-threatening. A Rural/Metro ambulance crew transported
the official to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. The driver of the
other vehicle was uninjured and not transported. The Johnson County
Sheriff's Department was at the scene investigating the cause.
